Recently I was asked to give Dunedin’s business start up competition http://audacious.co.nz an overview of why brand stories are so important.
It was a great opportunity for me to reflect on 20 years of telling stories in PR, marketing and communication.
Why are so stories so important?
Can a good story well told make a difference to a business?
Is story telling just marketing spin?
Could a brand story be more than PR fluff?
Do strong business stories engage staff as well as consumers?
Stopping to think about the importance of business stories reinforced that a story well told becomes the rallying cry and call to action for staff, investors, distributors, customers and consumers. When it works the brand’s essence is reflected in quick story that is summed up in a couple of lines and turns relationships with staff, investors, distributors, wholesalers and consumers from a mere transaction and makes them ambassadors for a brand.
This quick presentation sums up the value of brand stories and gives some easy tips on how to create your own brand story.
